In 2003, the council reached 501c3 /tax exempt status and was recognized as a nonprofit organization. Funding for every aspect of the Knott Drug Abuse Council (KDAC) comes from donations by individuals and corporations as well as grants. Surveys conducted through Knott’s school district on students 10 -18 years of age indicate that a primary reason given for drug use is BOREDOM. Kids feel like there is nothing better to do. KDAC strives to provide something else to do.
On a monthly basis the council conducts trainings and plans events in an effort to provide an alternative to these parties where drugs and alcohol are abused.
The council meets the second Tuesday of every month. In an effort to get youth involved the meeting may be held at Knott County Central. The calendar will give the location. For you may call the KDAC office at 606-785-5503.
Check the KDAC calendar for upcoming events and information.
